A well written resume says a lot about the person who
wrote it. The better written the resume will usually mean a
better quality candidate to the person reviewing it. Here are
some helpful tips on how to write a better resume:
- Include
the month and year for every position listed on a resume.
- Include
any accomplishments or awards at the top of each position.
- Keep
your resume in bullet form versus paragraph form. The last
thing a company wants to do is have to read a resume.
- Try to
keep a resume to one page. If not possible it should not be
any longer than two pages.
-
Education should be listed at the bottom of the resume
versus at the top, unless you are a recent college graduate
and have no work experience.
- Keep
personal information
that is unrelated to the job out of a resume.
- If you
are going to have an objective, customize it for each
company. Generic objectives can sometimes screen out a
candidate.
-
Proofread a resume for any spelling errors, typos, and
incorrect grammar.
